Jenna Perlow is our Lead Orton-Gillingham Tutor and the teacher of our Early Literacy Classes and Summer Literacy Camps.
Jenna founded Log House Literacy after several years teaching Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade. Her passion for teaching reading and her desire to help all children become successful readers led her to the Orton-Gillingham Approach, and eventually to opening a private practice as a full-time Orton-Gillingham tutor. Jenna has been working one-on-one with struggling and dyslexic readers since 2019, and has over 4000 hours of experience providing specialized reading intervention.
Jenna has two Master's Degrees in Education and is an Associate-in-Training of the Orton Gillingham Academy. She completed her Classroom Educator coursework through REAP and her Associate Level coursework through the Swift School. Jenna is also trained in Handwriting Without Tears, Lively Letters, and Heggerty.
Jenna lives in Roswell with her husband and daughter. When not reading about the science of reading, Jenna enjoys playing with her little girl, being crafty, listening to podcasts, and going on hikes around Atlanta.
Amanda has been teaching elementary school for 18 years, with the bulk of that time in Kindergarten and First Grade. She has spent the last few years in 3rd Grade, and she now teaches Latin to 3rd-5th Graders in addition to tutoring.
Amanda earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Furman University. She is Orton-Gillingham trained at the OGA Associate Level and completed both her Classroom Educator and Associate Level coursework through ReadSource at the Schenck School. Amanda is also trained in Handwriting Without Tears.
Amanda's time as a Kindergarten teacher sent her on the path to becoming an inquisitive reading teacher. She wanted to learn all she could to best support all of her students. This journey led her to phonics instruction and eventually to the Orton Gillingham approach. Amanda is passionate about helping kids read. Seeing them start to believe in themselves and crack the code brings her such joy.
Amanda lives in Roswell with her husband, two girls, and their dog. When she is not teaching or tutoring, you can catch her watching her girls play soccer, baking, listening to podcasts, and digging even more into the Science of Reading.
Meg is a certified teacher for PreK-5th grade and has spent the last 10 years teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten.
Meg earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a Reading Endorsement from Reinhardt University. She completed her Orton-Gillingham Associate Level coursework and is currently completing her 100-hr supervised practicum through the Schenck School to become a certified Orton-Gillingham Associate practitioner. Meg is also trained in Handwriting Without Tears.
Meg loves working with young students and watching them grow. Her desire to provide reading intervention to early learners inspired her to further her education and knowledge. She is passionate about supporting young students and building their confidence so they can feel successful.
Meg lives in East Cobb with her husband and their two dogs. She has two adult children, and her one daughter is an equestrian and has three horses. When she is not teaching or tutoring, she enjoys volunteering at a women’s shelter, playing pickleball, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Olivia is a dedicated reading and writing tutor who specializes in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Her interest in literacy instruction originated after her brother and childhood best friend were diagnosed with dyslexia and greatly benefitted from OG tutoring. Her fascination grew while watching her mother, who was also an OG tutor, tutor out of their home. Witnessing young learners become excited to build on their reading and writing skills motivates Olivia to continue researching and learning about the science of reading.
Olivia earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in English from the University of Georgia, and she is an Associate-In-Training of the Orton Gillingham Academy. She completed her Associate Level coursework and is currently completing her 100-hr supervised practicum through the Schenck School to become a certified Orton-Gillingham Associate practitioner.
Olivia lives in Vinings. She spends her free time exploring Atlanta's hiking trails and bookstores, and contributing to literary magazines.
Courtney holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. While living abroad, she discovered how difficult it was for her eldest daughter to read and write, leading to a diagnosis of dyslexia. Through the Orton-Gillingham approach, her daughter gained the ability to read and spell with confidence. When her younger two daughters were also diagnosed with dyslexia, Courtney ensured they received Orton-Gillingham instruction from the start.
Inspired by her children's journey, Courtney pursued training in the Orton-Gillingham approach, completing her Associate-level coursework through ReadSource at the Schenck School. She is currently completing a 100-hour supervised practicum through TAP Learning Services to become a certified Orton-Gillingham Associate practitioner. She also serves as a substitute teacher at Gracepoint, an Orton-Gillingham accredited school, where she is dedicated to helping children with dyslexia succeed.
Courtney lives in East Cobb with her husband, three children, and two dogs. She enjoys attending her children's lacrosse games, visiting coffee shops, and training for marathons and triathlons. She continues to expand her knowledge of the Orton-Gillingham approach to help children become confident readers and spellers.
