About Us

Who We Serve

Who We Are

We specialize in early literacy instruction and are committed to building skilled and confident readers using evidenced-based methods aligned with the Science of Reading.

Our tutors all have Master's degrees, are trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, and are experienced at working with pre-readers, struggling readers, and students with dyslexia. Our tutors also have training in and use other Structured Literacy programs, including Lively Letters, Heggerty, and Handwriting Without Tears.

We are proud to use the Science of Reading to foster a love of reading in all of the children we work with.

Jenna Perlow

Founder & Owner of Log House Literacy

Jenna founded Log House Literacy after several years teaching Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade. As a classroom teacher, she witnessed the difficulties many children experienced learning to read and was frustrated by the lack of appropriate instructional methods and resources available to help them. Jenna pursued training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and began tutoring students after school. Seeing the tremendous success of this approach with struggling and dyslexic readers, Jenna started Log House Literacy and began tutoring full-time. With requests to work with groups of even younger learners, Jenna found a true passion for early literacy and helping preschool children discover the joy of learning and reading.

Jenna has two Master's Degrees in Education and is an Associate-in-Training of the Orton Gillingham Academy. She completed her 70-hr OG training through REAP and the Swift School in 2019, and is currently completing her 100-hr supervised practicum to become a certified Orton-Gillingham Practitioner. Jenna is also trained in Handwriting Without Tears, Lively Letters, and Heggerty.

Prior to becoming an elementary school teacher and tutor, Jenna worked in the field of International Education and Development. She taught ESL, directed a volunteer teaching program in India, managed education improvement programs in the Middle East and Asia, and designed an Oral Language Intervention curriculum for Room to Read, which has since been adopted as a national-level program in Laos.

Jenna lives in Roswell with her husband and daughter. When not reading about the science of reading, Jenna enjoys playing with her little girl, being crafty, listening to podcasts, and going on hikes around Atlanta.
